Good news! Starting in 2021, the Cadillac XT5 and XT6 will get a 48-volt mild hybrid system, a new gold color and – if the above photo we swear by – was actually in our mothers’ lives on the Chinese market the press releaseis an indication – the ability to float.

From model year 2021, the standard 2.0-liter turbo four-cylinder XT5 and XT6 on the Chinese market will be equipped with a 48-volt mild hybrid system, which, according to Cadillac, will reduce fuel consumption in the XT5 and in the XT6 by around 5 percent up 6 percent on XT6 (to 7.0 l / 100 km and 7.2 l / 100 km if you need to know – roughly 33.6 and 37.2 mpg).

According to Cadillac, the 48-volt motor will be used to bring the caddies to a standstill and will then assist the gasoline engine as soon as it’s started. Also new for 2021: gold color and an updated surface for the Cadillac User Experience Infotainment system.

Unfortunately, there was no details in the release about the people surrounding the XT5 and walking over a foot off the ground.

We emailed Cadillac to ask if we might see these changes in the Cadillac XT5 and XT6 in the US market. “The 48-V system is a China-specific solution and no introduction is planned in North America,” a Cadillac representative told us.

Suspiciously, they said nothing about levitation.
