The Kona N is Hyundai’s first performance SUV and the second N model for the USA. It is completely new for the 2022 model year. This spicier iteration of the Kona has a sleeker exterior design than even the streamlined new 2022 Kona, a lower stance, and a more aggressive face. Up front, the Kona’s busy face has been upgraded with large air intakes, thinned headlights, three small air vents over the grille like the Veloster N, and a red accent on the front splitter.

Hyundai adapts a double wedge roof spoiler, a double exhaust silencer, threatening taillights and an improved diffuser at the rear. In addition to these improvements, the souped-up Kona also gets a new triangular third brake light.

While regular Konas come with front-wheel drive as standard and offer all-wheel drive as an option, Hyundai has not yet confirmed which setup the Kona N will have. (The Veloster N is front-wheel drive.) While it isn’t available with a manual transmission, the eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission should be just as fun.

Expect the 2022 Hyundai Kona N to arrive at a dealer near you later this year. Be on your guard because Hyundai will be releasing more photos and juicy details about the punchy crossover soon.
