The electric Macan is due in 2022 and just like we’ve seen with the twins Porsche Taycan and Audi E-Tron GT, it could produce an Audi counterpart.
According to a report from Germany Car picture Audi, which was released over the weekend, is planning its own version of the electric Macan, which will be labeled as the “Q6 E-Tron” and offered for sale by the end of 2022.
As the name suggests, the Q6 E-Tron would be positioned somewhere between the Q5 and the Q7, essentially making it a replacement for the Q6 E-Tron The company currently occupies this space and is said to have been referred to as the Q6 before debuting in 2018. Given the rapid pace of EV technology, it is very likely that the E-Tron will have a shorter lifespan than the typical seven to eight years for an Audi.
The E-Tron is based on a modified version of the MLB Evo platform for vehicles with internal combustion. Audi may want to replace it with a new model based on a special EV platform to keep up with the competition. The PSA platform promises an 800-volt electrical system and driving ranges that can reach 300 miles on one charge.
