The Best ’90s Cars You Can Buy Today

After the end of the Cold War, society had reason to be optimistic. Powerful computers designed for war could now be used by the automotive world. This enabled the 90s to increase power, torque and fuel consumption by orders of magnitude. A 1990 Ferrari Testarossa made a whopping 375 hp. The Pagani Zonda arrived 9 years later with 555 hp and set the stage for the modern hypercar. I learned to drive in the 90s and survived the Geo Tracker to get a 5.7 liter IROC Camaro. It made 350 lb-ft of torque from idle to 4,500 rpm and it was a preview that the slow-car era of the 80s would soon be way behind us. Tell us your ultimate 90’s car in the comments below!

This XJ220 was built on January 28th, 1993 and is number 237 of a limited edition of 281 handcrafted cars. It was delivered to Geneva, Switzerland on April 1, 1993, and on June 22, 1993, Gilbert Llorens, a South American expatriate, became the first owner of the XJ220. Unfortunately, Llorens died before he could officially register the car and his estate only sold the Jaguar to Ted Schroeder in Switzerland in 1999. Shortly after the purchase, Schroeder began investigating the process of getting the car to the United States. He contacted Jaguar North America for advice, which in turn turned to Sun International Racing of Manhattan Beach, California.
