Royal Enfield Classic 350 versus Jawa 42 – top-end battle of retro bikes
Royal Enfield Classic 350 and Jawa 42 are two popular models in the 300-350 cc retro motorcycle category. Both motorcycles are equipped with various features and elements that set them apart from other offerings in the segment. While looks can be subjective, we would certainly like to know between the Classic 350 and the Java 42who will win in a top end fight.
While searching for an answer, we came across a video uploaded by YouTuber KSC Vlogs showing a top-end race between the Royal Enfield Classic 350 and Jawa 42. We can see in the footage that the drivers are making two attempts. Before we go into the race, let’s take a look at the specs of the two bikes in question.
The Classic 350 is powered by a 346 cc single-cylinder engine that generates a maximum output of 19.1 hp at 5,250 rpm and a maximum torque of 28 Nm at 4,000 rpm. The gearbox here is a 5-speed gearbox. On the other hand, the Jawa 42 uses a 293 cc single-cylinder engine that pumps out a maximum output of 27.33 hp and a maximum torque of 27.02 Nm. So both motorcycles have almost identical performance data.
Now when we return to the race, we can see in the video that the Jawa 42 driver deviates from the brand on the first try and takes the lead. Within a few seconds, the g between the two motorcycles increases significantly. We also see that the Jawa driver does not even lie down to avoid gusts of wind and is still able to get away from the Royal Enfield. Finally, the 42nd wins.
Now the riders switch bikes on the second attempt and the race begins. Here too, the Jawa 42 gets off the line incredibly quickly. It easily takes the lead and stays there until the end. So the 42 wins again. While the driver’s skills play an important role in such scenarios, the fact that the Classic 350 weighs a whopping 195 kg worked out in favor of the Jawa 42, which weighs 172 kg.
