Porsche teases the 2022 Taycan Cross Turismo Wagon Bod

When it finally comes to the US, the Taycan Cross Turismo will serve as the counterpart of the Taycan electric sedan. It’s great to add a little more functionality to the Taycan range, but one of the Porsche EV’s few shortcomings is the steeply sloping roofline, which results in limited headroom in the rear seats. The Cross Turismo should fix this problem.

The photos from Porsche also show the additional driving height of the Cross Turismo compared to the Taycan sedan, as well as the roof rails of the car and the robust covering of its wheel arches. All of these points suggest that this Taycan will undoubtedly be more of a lifestyle vehicle than a sports car (or about dare, if you want). Think of the Audi A6 Allroad or Mercedes E450 All-Terrain. The Cross Turismo will likely offer a range of trims similar to the current Taycan. A 4 or 4S will serve as the base model, with Turbo and Turbo S models at the top of the range. However, these latter two panels can make the Cross Turismo kit superfluous and arrive as Sport Turismo models that are more street-oriented.

We assume that Porsche will take the Taycan Cross Turismo off the market later this year, but the production version is unlikely to be available from dealers until mid-2022. Expect the Cross Turismo’s driving range to lag a little behind its siblings on its added weight and less efficient aerodynamics. According to the environmental protection agency, the longest range you can get out of a Taycan is currently 227 miles – and you have to specify the Performance Battery Plus option to receive this amount as well.

Even if we are in the dark when it comes to pricing, we can look in the current Panamera range for an indication of the price that Porsche can calculate for the Taycan Cross Turismo. The delta between Panamera sedans and Panamera Sport Turismo car variants is $ 4,000. Given the added off-road nature of the Taycan Cross Turismo, Porsche is likely to charge $ 5,000 or more to switch from the Taycan’s body style to its more practical car.
