New Driving on Reverse Record!

Categories :

We are coming back, as we promised, with a new update on the Nissan Leaf EV.

It managed to achieve the highly wanted record at the “Goodwood Festival of Speed 2012” for driving in reverse. Yey!

Terry Grant, the amazing driver, managed to go almost 1.6km (approx. 1 mile) in 1 minute 37 seconds at an average speed of 55mph. All that happening climbing!!!

Apparently, he has managed to beat his own record by 26 seconds (2 minutes and 3 seconds).

You have here, his statement:  “I had a great car at my disposal – with direct drive from the electric motor to its wheels, the Nissan LEAF can, in theory, go as fast backwards as it can forwards. There were times I wasn’t sure I was coming or going. However, thanks to the LEAF’s low center of gravity – the batteries are an integral part of the car’s floor – the car is extremely stable, no matter which direction it’s traveling. The only complaint I have is slight neck ache from constantly looking over my shoulder!”

Congratulations!
