Ella Podmore spends her days pushing the boundaries of composites. She has been instrumental in the success of the Elva, 765LT and Artura since 2016, and this McLaren scientist was named Young Woman Engineer of the Year by the Institution of Engineering and Technology. Her constant striving to make her cars lighter and stronger is also evident on a small scale as she miniaturized the Senna GTR for Lego. The IET judges were impressed with her dedication, charisma and personality as it inspires more women to follow in their footsteps.

“Congratulations to Ella from me and everyone at McLaren. Ella’s passion for her work has been clearly felt by the IET and the judges, making her an inspiring ambassador for others who want to follow in her footsteps.

“For a company like ours, diversity is critical to maintaining and nurturing the culture of innovation that helps us challenge ourselves and develop new solutions and technologies to enable and deliver the exciting products our customers want.”
Mandeep Dhatt, executive director of human resources at McLaren Automotive
