Land Rover assigns bespoke defenders to nonprofits

It seems Ford won’t be the only automaker giving away ATVs to deserving organizations. Land Rover announced its Defender Above and Beyond Service Awards, which will award seven specially customized Defender SUVs to nonprofits.

There are seven categories of organizations Land Rover would like to assign a defense attorney to. The first two considered are search and rescue organizations and coastal and marine protection groups. While Land Rover hasn’t specified exactly how to customize the vehicles, it has provided the two renders shown in this post with factory accessories like storage boxes, roof racks, towbars, snorkels, and brush guards.

For consideration, an individual or the group itself can submit a three-minute video about what the group is doing, how they are helping the community, and how a defender would support their work. The video and the associated forms can be submitted here. A jury will choose the finalists, whose videos will then be posted on the Land Rover consumer website for people to vote on a winner.

The company is accepting nominations for the first two categories until April 7th. The next nomination period is from May 3rd to June 1st and applies to animal welfare and first aid groups. The final group of organizations that can be nominated are environmental, urban improvement and fire fighting groups. Your submission window is from June 28th to July 27th.
