Hyundai AX1 (Maruti Ignis Rival) is discovered next to Creta in a garment ready for series production
By now, almost everyone knows that Hyundai is developing a micro-crossover that can keep up with such Maruti fire and the one ahead Tata HBX. Recently, test mules of the upcoming AX1 micro-crossover ready for series production were seen somewhere in Korea next to the new generation Creta. These images were clicked on while the prototypes waited to be loaded onto a vehicle carrier. Interestingly, these images give a clear perspective on that Hyundai AX1‘s dimensions as it stands right next to the Creta that is already for sale in the Indian market.
Although the test mules wear strong camouflage, they manage to lose some of the details of the AX1 design. The front end is similar to that of the venue with a vertically split arrangement for the headlights. In addition, it gets an imposing radiator grille at the front. In addition, the A and C pillars are quite upright, giving the AX1 a boxy silhouette. The upcoming micro crossover also gets a set of chunky roof rails on top for the much-needed sturdy peal. It looks pretty busy on the sides for the alloy wheels. The B-pillars are not darkened either.
With an upright posture, the AX1 will likely offer plenty of room inside. It is speculated to go on sale with a long list of features borrowed from the Nios. One can expect that the AX1 is also equipped with a number of safety aids. Hyundai offers two front airbags, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors, day / night IRVM, seat belt alarm and rollover protection as standard.
The Hyundai AX1 is expected to be presented at the end of this year. However, the launch is expected to be planned for next year. Since Hyundai has not yet released any details on the AX1, it is difficult to comment on its mechanical specs. However, it will likely go on sale with a range of engine and gearbox combinations.
In fact, the AX1 should also be equipped with an electric drive train. It was previously reported that Hyundai is working on a mass-market electric vehicle and the upcoming AX1 packages, which with their SUV-inspired aesthetics and compact dimensions are the right recipe for people lovers. With so much on its side, the Hyundai AX1 will give tough competition to its rivals – Maruti Ignis, Mahindra KUV100, and the upcoming Tata HBX.
