So what is it packing?

The SLS draws inspiration from the SLS AMG GT3 race car, which has won 37 races in GT3 since 2010. In short, it is a very, very speedy car.

As for the Black Series, its AMG 6.3-litre V8 engine is capable of churning out 631 hp – that is a whole 60 hp more than the regular SLS AMG GT Coupe – Mercedes have also managed to make it 70kg lighter than the coupe. The increased power and the lighter body mean that the Black Series is quick out the trap; it can reach 62 mph in 3.6 seconds.

Other additions to make the drive as enjoyable as possible include the AMG Speedshift DCT 7-speed sports transmission, AMG ride control suspension, electronically controlled AMG rear axle differential lock and AMG ceramic high-performance brake system. All of these factors together make for one completely unforgettable experience.

Inside the car you get the usual Mercedes treatment whilst retaining that air of sportiness, with bucket-seats and a carbon-fibre trim. The German company as always have used high-quality materials showcasing sublime workmanship and exquisitely designed details, yet have somehow managed to strip back. A Black Series exclusive is the so-called “3D Seam” which runs horizontally along the dashboard: an Alcantara strip features across the entire width of the leather covering.
