Made in India Suzuki Gixxer 250 Updated for MY2021 in January

Made in India Suzuki Gixxer 250 was launched in January last year. The quarter-liter motorcycle was made in the land of the rising sun together with its fully faired sibling, the Suzuki Gixxer SF 250. For MY2021, the 250cc bare motorcycle has been updated for the Janese market.

For MY2021, the Suzuki Gixxer 250 gets updated color schemes. It will now be available in new paint options – Triton Blue Metallic and Matte Black Metallic. These are the same paint schemes that are available in the Indian market. Art from the new colors, no further changes were implemented in the updated model.

The 2021 Suzuki Gixxer 250 will be launched on May 25th in January. It will be priced at JPY 448,800 which will be converted to INR 3.09 lakh. As a reference, the Gixxer 250 costs 1.67 lakh in India (from the showroom, Delhi).

The Gixxer 250 is powered by a 249cc single cylinder engine equipped with 4-valve, SOHC and fuel injection. Suzuki has developed a new oil cooling system for this engine. It’s called SOCS or Suzuki Oil Cooling System. This allowed the brand to keep the weight of the engine as light as possible without sacrificing performance across the rev range. The engine has been tuned to produce a maximum output of 26 hp at 9,000 rpm and a maximum torque of 22 Nm at 7,300 rpm. It is connected to a 6-speed gearbox.

In terms of equipment, the Suzuki Gixxer 250 has a full LED headlight and an elegant LED rear light. There is a one-piece handlebar that provides a relaxed and comfortable riding position. The motorcycle is also equipped with a fully digital instrument cluster with a negative display. Some of the other key features are:

  • Twin barrel exhaust for a premium look and a bassy exhaust note
  • Split handle
  • 300 mm / 220 mm disc brake front / rear
  • Two-channel ABS
  • 41 mm telescopic front suspension and preload adjustable monoshock at the rear
