The new Jaguar XF-R, officially launched at the Detroit Auto Show and was officially named the fastest Jaguar series ever produced. British company announced this after the secret testing of a prototype XF-R participated in the salty lake Bonneville, Utah.
Maximum speed achieved by the UK was 363,288 km / h, a figure that beats the previous record, held by XJ220 since 1992: 349.4 km / h.
In the successful test of the Bonneville, XF-R’s prototype was piloted by Paul Gentilozzi, owner Rocketsport Racing, which has led to a victory XK-R Trans Am championship in the U.S. between 2001 and 2006. The copy that has managed to establish the new record has been slightly modified from the version number, and aerodynamic changes aiming to secure the minimum requirements to run at Bonneville. In addition, to get top speed of 363 kilometers per hour, the computer that manages the engine has been recalibrated for it to generate some more horsepower, air intakes were slightly larger and exhaust system and they receive these improvements. Instead, Jaguar engineers have not changed any part of the engine or gear box, the steps are identical to the version of the series.
