Honda HR-V Inspired SUV E: Prototype Revealed

Earlier this year Honda made its worldwide debut New generation HR-V and now the Janese automaker has unveiled a new EV prototype inspired by the new HR-V at the Shanghai Auto Show 2021. Named the Honda SUV E: Prototype, this HR-V-inspired electric SUV will be the first mass-produced Honda electric vehicle for the Chinese market. It is expected to hit the market sometime between March and June 2022. The automaker also plans to launch nine more electric vehicles exclusively for China over the next five years.

The Honda SUV E: Prototype looks very similar to the HR-V, only electrified with lots of blue LED lighting elements. The overall silhouette and the strong shoulder line are almost identical for the two SUVs. The differences lie in the details in which the E: Prototype receives new sharp LED headlights. There are new LED strips that run along the edge of the hood without meeting in the middle. Even the Honda ‘H’ logo lights up on the closed grille. The charging port is also located here.

There are even more blue LED strips on the sides of the inlets on the bumper. In the profile there is a strip of light on the lower edge of the body. The sides of the concept are largely unadorned, but the sleek side mirrors, retractable door handles, and the crease along the shoulder line stand out. While the E: Prototype in the rear still looks largely similar to the HR-V with full-width LED taillights and a heavily raked C-pillar, it has more blue LED lighting elements and a slim rear spoiler.

Honda has not yet shared any pictures of the interior of the E: Prototype. However, the company has announced that it will come with the third generation Honda Connect software for smartphone connectivity and even support wireless updates. All upcoming Honda models in China are expected to be equipped with Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS). Honda also didn’t reveal any details about the powertrain, battery, or range of its electric SUV.
