Next generation Ford Focus is ready for a mega debut at Detroit Auto Show; Motor Show which opens its gates this week will host may surprise for the season: Ford plans to produce in 2011 an electric version, with batteries, the new Focus.

According to statements made by company representatives, Focus will go into production at the end of 2010. Based on Ford’s classic structure, it is estimated a production of about 2 million units by 2012.
Probably one of the most awaited “sensations” of the year is U.S. editions, Europe and Asia, who finally have a common denominator – the concept of “One Ford” designates 80% similarity to components.

On American market, the new Focus will be available as the 4-door sedan in and five-door hatchback.
Sister models include the Ford C-Max and Grand X-Hi – both with a new design, which were presented during the Frankfurt Auto Show in 2009 and will be available in Europe at the end of this year.

Also, Ford is planning various engine variants, depending on the market. U.S. gets a 2.0L direct-injection 4-cylinder petrol producing 20 hp extra, but with a saving of 10% as regards fuel, especially because six-speed automatic transmission with double clutch.

On the other hand, European customers will have to choose between a 4-cylinder Duratorq diesel and a turbocharged direct injection EcoBoost.
The new Focus features include satellite navigation, vehicle dynamic control, power steering, automatic start, keyless, by pushing a start button, plus semi-automatic parallel parking.
