BMW M1 Homage Concept Car is one amazing car. In a nod to the 30th anniversary of the fabled BMW M1 supercar, BMW Group Design just launched a new concept car that acts as a homage to it—and that’s also what they named it. At the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este 2008 this week, the company debuted the BMW M1 Homage, which they call a “design study in the tradition of a BMW Turbo that represents a contemporary take on the BMW M1 and the mid-engine concept.”

The concept’s Liquid Orange paint is meant as a tribute to the original car’s color, The air vents in the hood, the twin rear badges, the rear window louvers, and the black cut line that separates the roof line from the rear of the car are also details that made it into the new version. The dimensions are mostly the same as the original except for an extended wheelbase for more interior room. The headlights almost disappear into the car when closed, as a kind of new iteration of the long-since-gone retractable lamps of old.

There’s no word on anything underneath the skin, but let’s hope they decide to build it.

The exclusive double-part 5-spoke black rims are made by the famous hot-rod producer Boyd Coddington. These heavy rims are also very wide – 10″ and 13″. These gigantic rims wear Falken tires Falken ZiEX S/TZ. You can imagine that 360 mm Brembo vented brake discs look quite small compared to the rims.

The whole thing looks like some Star Trek base. When you push the button, the unit does 90o left turn allowing boarding and getting out. And the rear trunk cover slides to show the amplifiers.

The G-POWER HURRICANE is available as a fully converted car starting at 240,000 Euros.
To achieve the desired increase in power output of 223 hp / 164 kW for the fast-revving engine that normally produces 507 hp / 373 kW, G-POWER, in cooperation with ASA Automotive, has developed a high-tech supercharging system. The system uses one belt-driven ASA T1-12 compressor for each cylinder bank. Contrary to conventional mechanical chargers that waste a large portion of the additional power on being driven themselves, the ASA compressor has an efficiency rate of up to 80%.

Acceleration performance benefits accordingly. With a sprint time from rest to 100 km/h of 4.2 sec the two-ton sedan bests its production counterpart by half a second. With approx. 10 sec to 200 km/h the advantage grows to 5.0 sec.
