INTRODUCTION
The award was held in India and Sachin Tendulkar (a cricketing icon) was the chief guest. Its main purpose is to rank new car models according to their comfort, spacing, speed, design and styling, technology and innovation, durability, driver’s ease of use, luxury, class, availability, value of the car amongst other categories.
By the end of the 2013, several car models were released. These new models contended in the awards. Some include: Chevrolet Sail saloon, Chevrolet Enjoy, Honda CR-V, Honda Amaze, Mahindra e2o, Mahindra Verito Vibe, Mercedes-Benz GL, Mercedes-Benz A-class, Volvo V40 Cross Country, Ford EcoSport, BMW 1-series, Hyundai Grand i10, Skoda Octavia, Ashok Leyland Stile and Nissan Terrano.

PRIZES AWARDED
The jury decided that the following car models topped their respective categories:

BEST CAR 2013
This prize was awarded to the Renault Manufacturer-Duster model. It is said that the car portrays maximum comfort, luxury, class, space, design and styling amongst other categories that the jury used as a base-line. It is advised that people should buy such model if they are on the onset of long journeys, family trips and field studies.

MOST COMFORTABLE CAR AWARD
The prize is awarded to car models that exhibit high levels of comfort, spacing and compactness. The Sail Saloon from Chevrolet was said to lead this category for its unique compactness and comfort and undying spacious seats and back-space.

DESIGN AND STYLING AWARD AND SALOON CAR OF THE YEAR AWARD
Hyundai Elantra 5-door Hatchback model topped both of these groups due to its new quality and durable body parts and compact engine. Its new models are almost half the i10, therefore, more comfortable. It also has an eye-catching body design and classy exotic style.

TECHNOLOGY AND INNOVATION AWARD
The category was won by the Range Rover (all new models including Range Rover Sport) with its well know GIS (Geographic Information System) tracking system, direction guide information systems, engineering and use of lightweight aluminium body shell.

SUV OF THE YEAR AWARD
The category was divided into three major groups, namely: Luxury, Premium and Overall. The awards were taken by the Mercedes Benz M-class, SsangYong Rexton and Renault Duster respectively.

SALOON CAR OF THE YEAR AWARD
Two awards awarded are The Luxury saloon of the year that was won by BMW 3-series and the General award for saloon cars was won by Hyundai Elantra.

DRIVER’S CAR OF THE YEAR AWARD
This award was awarded to BMW 3-series. It is said that this model have the best sterling wheel and its internal components are built for comfort and easy use by the driver.

OTHER AWARDS……
Other car prizes awarded that day include the Manufacturer of the year that was taken by Mahindra, Best variant of the year that was awarded to 2012 Chevrolet Cruze and the Best Value for money car of the year that ended in the hands of Alto 800.

CONCLUSION
In conclusion the jury, using the DSA Theory Test-a variety of tests and conditions used when analysing the usability of new car models, announced the Renault Duster as the Car of the Year. They also commended all manufacturers for their efforts in the general contribution in the motor world. BMW 3-series, Renault Duster and Hyundai Elantra were awarded with more than one award.
