American Horse Power in German Sports Car

Most people who have invested in an Audi R8 are probably happy with their choice. Those who want more power can now contact Hennessey.

Hennessey Performance Engineering is an American auto tuning company, specializing in modifying sports cars from brands such as Ferrari, Porsche, McLaren, etc. The latest European car on their list is the Audi R8.

Audi R8

Audi R8 was originally launched in 2006, as both a two-door coupé and a two-door cabriolet. When the R8 underwent a generation change in 2015, many were excited to see if the V10 engine would be replaced, but amazingly no – they kept it as the only alternative.

The car is available in two versions. The standard edition is equipped with 620 horses and has a torque of 560 Newton. The Performance Edition offers 670 horses and 580 Newtons. The latter is almost the same engine as in Lamborghini Gallardo.

Still not enough power? Bring the car to Hennessey and ask for more. They have a habit of producing four-digit effects out of almost anything.

Hennessey Takes on Audi R8

Hennessey has taken the Audi R8 and installed an impressive twin-turbo, extracting no less than 920 horses out of the V10-engine. In addition, the upgrade includes new air intakes and new exhaust pipes, as well as new oil and cooling system. And of course, the CPU has been reprogrammed. Fuel system, powertrain, and transmission remain unchanged.

HPE900 Twin Turbo Audi R8 V10 Specifications:

POWER

• 912 bhp @ 7,400 rpm

PERFORMANCE

• 0-60 mph: 2.6 sec.

• ¼ mile: 9.8 @ 145 mph

Hennessey feels so confident about their procedure, they’ve decided to provide a warranty of 12 months or 12.000 miles. They’ve also announced that since the R8 is closely related to the Lamborghini Huracan, they can offer a similar upgrade for this one.

Whopping Price Tag

The price of the upgrade is a whopping $ 79.500 – in addition to the cost of actually buying the car itself. In April 2020 the R8 was listed at over $ 200.000 for the Performance-edition.
